You can cycle or walk along the route and immerse yourself in the impressive spectacle of the estuary and beyond.
While you’re in the area, to get a sense of the dramatic history of this part of the world, a trip to Landguard Fort is a must. This impressive Grade I listed structure, built in the eighteenth century, tells the story of Felixstowe’s rich military and maritime heritage. Visitors can wander around the labyrinth of rooms, tunnels, and passages and really get a sense of the history of the place, with regular re-enactments throughout the year that help bring its story to life. Continuing on the heritage trail, call in at Felixstowe Museum and find out more about the town’s enchanting history with artefacts dating back to Roman times and fascinating exhibits telling visitors about Victorian and Edwardian times. There is even a replica shop selling household items from a bygone era, and there are exhibitions and displays throughout the year, so it is worth checking what’s on when you’re there.
