    There are a number of easy walks in Torquay, so if you’re just starting out or want a nice, gentle stroll around the town taking in its sights and sounds, these are for you.

    A fascinating walk for newcomers is the Agatha Christie Mile which pays homage to the town’s most famous literary resident.

    Starting at either the Imperial Hotel or the Grand Hotel, the walk takes in some of the most prominent landmarks in Christie’s life from Princess Pier where she spent time as a girl, the Pavilion, the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, Beacon Cove, The Strand and Torquay Museum and railway station.

    Walks in Torquay – Cockington Estate & Occombe Farm Nature Trail

    The delightful Cockington Estate offers a selection of five planned walks which vary from 0.5 miles to two miles, so are ideal for those with young children.

    Families will also love the Occombe Farm Nature Trail which is easily manageable for the whole family at just under a mile and takes in beautiful woods and the wildlife meadows are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.

    Walks in Torquay – Berry Head to Sharkham

    Talking of nature, a lovely walk which is rewarded with some awe-inspiring views, interesting birds and wildlife and historical landmarks along the way is from Berry Head to Sharkham.

    At around 1.6 miles, it’s a relatively easy trek which starts at Berry Head Nature Reserve before walking around the headland where you will see monuments such as the highest working lighthouse in the UK and hopefully spot some interesting wildlife.

    Walks in Torquay Hope’s Nose to Walls Hill

    If you’re looking for a walk that takes you a little further afield and boasts some fabulous views, then try Hope’s Nose to Walls Hill, a trek of around 3.7 miles.

    Thanks to its geology and fauna, the area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is also considered one of the finest examples of a Bronze Age field system.

    A walk that offers visitors both coastline and countryside is the 6.3-mile Teignmouth to Maidencombe Circular.

    Starting from Ness Beach and heading along the coast to Maidencombe, the walk offers some stunning coastal views before it takes you back inland.

    Make sure to have sturdy walking shoes because it gets a bit hilly, but the beautiful countryside scenery more than makes up for it!

    Walks in Torquay – South West Coastal Path

    When visiting Torquay, the 22-mile walk along the coast, which has been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark, is not to be missed.

    Passing through Babbacombe, Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham, the walk offers some simply sublime views.

    Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop off for refreshments, including Three Degrees West at Oddicombe beach, the Shoreline Café at Paignton beach, and Rockfish in Brixham, which are all well worth a visit in their own right.

    John Musgrave Heritage Trail

    Popular with dedicated walkers and ramblers is the John Musgrave Heritage Trail, which takes in some incredible landmarks and scenery throughout its 35-mile route.

    Split into four sections, the walk can be completed in one go for more seasoned walkers or in more manageable chunks for those who want to go at a slightly slower pace.

    Starting at Maidencombe, the first section goes to Cockington, the next from here to Totnes, and then Totnes to Dittisham, and finally Greenway to its final destination at Brixham.
