Autumn Activities

If you’ve got kids, then you’ll know that autumn is one of the best times of the year. What could be more fun than kicking through piles of autumn leaves in welly boots, going on scavenger hunts, picking autumn fruits such as blackberries, and collecting conkers?

Let’s Explore the UK’s Best Autumn Activities

Here are just a few suggestions for some of the best Autumn caravan breaks & activities across the UK – and the best thing is they’re as much for adults as children!

    1. Autumn Scavenger Hunt…

Hand-drawn map for a scavenger hunt lying on the grass. The map shows a river, trees, and a big red "X" marking the treasure, with arrows leading the way.

If you’re struggling to motivate the kids to go out on a healthy autumn walk, then you can’t beat a scavenger hunt to get everyone moving, engage them in a fun challenge, and learn more about the world of nature at the same time.

If you search ‘autumn scavenger hunt’ online, you will find lots of different printable pages, or you can always come up with your own.

Think of objects you’re likely to see on an autumn walk – but don’t make it too easy – you don’t want it to be over in seconds!

For example, use easy-to-find objects like:

    • Pine cones
    • Orange-coloured leaves
    • Conkers
    • Feathers
    • Worms (always good to have a creepy crawly on the list for added value!)

Mix them up with more tricky items such as a fairy ink cap mushroom, a pumpkin, red berries, and even a scarecrow. Then, include a hot chocolate as a reward for completing!

    2. Autumn Arts & Crafts…

Not everyone has reams of art supplies on hand in the home, and if you’re looking for some autumn arts and crafts activities that don’t involve buying lots of resources and equipment, which, let’s face it, as well as being incredibly messy, can also be very expensive.

Instead, why not invest in a small amount of staple supplies to make sure that you’re craft-ready but that won’t cost the earth?

    • Paper – as well as A4 plain white paper, buying some bigger A3 or A2 is a good idea too, so you can create larger works of art
    • Card – different coloured pieces of the card is incredibly useful – they can be used on their own or are ideal for cutting out shapes
    • Felt-tips – a set of good quality felt tips will go a long way, along with pencils and crayons for younger kids
    • Glue – the best quality glue to guarantee actually being able to stick everything you want is PVA glue
    • Sticky labels – while it can be overwhelming what art supplies to buy, investing in some sheets of either plain white sticky labels you can customise yourself or sheets of ready-made sticky labels shapes will always get used
    • DIY arts & crafts: Get yourself a big box and start saving things you can use for craft activities, such as cardboard toilet rolls, coloured cardboard from boxes, packaging, bottle tops, buttons, just about anything! It’s all free and a great way to recycle!

    3. Autumn Activities…

Not everyone is a dab hand at arts and crafts, so don’t worry. There are plenty of other activities you can get involved in during autumn.

Pumpkin picking has to be one of the best autumn activities.

Not only is it a great way to get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air

But it is also a great idea for the whole family to do together.

Look for pumpkin patches in your area, get involved, and at the end, you can test your creative skills with some pumpkin carving.
