    What’s Conwy Morfa Beach Like

    The beach is part of the collection of sandy beaches in North Wales that form Conwy Bay.

    At low tide, the sandy bay links up with the locally famous Conwy Bay mussel banks, ideal for sandcastles and laid-back beach fun. 

    It is popular with all kinds of visitors – not just families looking for a relaxing beach day out – such as those looking to do a spot of fishing and bird-watching. 

    There’s tons of open space, and you’ll no doubt welcome the opportunity to stretch your legs along with your furry friend! 

    Despite its small size, the small surrounding town of Conwy is packed with history!

    You can explore lots of medieval buildings, and the town’s Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are considered one of Europe’s best-preserved fortresses.

    There are lots of activities to get involved in while you enjoy your day at Conwy Morfa Beach, including: 

    • Fishing – You could catch whiting, rockling, bass, flounders, dabs, plaice, dogfish, or even salmon and sewin (sea trout), which have been seen on occasion. 
    • Rock pooling – Little explorers can discover marine life around the beach and build a rock pool with all kinds of exciting sea creatures! 
    • Bird watching – Grab a pair of binoculars and really take in the beauty of your surroundings. You could see Crossbill, Dipper, Hawfinch, Goshawk, Black Grouse, and Chough. 
    • Sea glass collecting –Collect beautiful sea glass –pieces broken glass smoothed down by the ocean’s waves – available around the beach. 
    • Sandcastle building – A classic beach pastime made even better because Conwy Morfa is a very sandy beach! 
    • Explore the open space with your dog – Stretch your legs and try to keep up with your four-legged friend on the miles of expansive beach! 
    • Enjoy the views of nearby Snowdonia and Llandudno

    Is the Beach Beach Pet-Friendly? 

    The restrictions on dogs, or should we say lack of them, make Conwy Morfa Beach a standout option when looking for a dog-friendly beach in North Wales. Dogs are welcome to roam around and explore the beach all year round but remember to keep your pooch on a leash when at the beach. 

    Can You Swim at the Beach? 

    Yes! You can swim at Conwy Morfa Beach; the pristine waters are well-looked after, ready for a splash around with the family! It’s worth noting that there is no lifeguard service here like at some of the other family-friendly UK beaches.

    Disabled & Low Mobility Visitors to Conwy Morfa Beach

    Is Conwy Morfa Beach Accessible?

    Unfortunately, there are no specific on-beach facilities to make visiting this beach easier for low-mobility, elderly or disabled users.

    There’s a public-use toilet near the beach car park, this toilet isn’t modified to accommodate low mobility or disabled users.

    Coffee, Ice Cream & an Ice Cold Beer

    After a day at the beach, you’ll need to refuel – let’s take a look at some of the local options available.

    High-quality & close to the beach, what more could you ask for? Signature’s Restaurant is just off the Morfa Beach car park and offers a range of cuisines as well as free WiFi, highchairs for kids, and wheelchair access to make your visit easier.  

    Local Favourite: The Old White House

    The Old White House is the ideal restaurant near Conwy Morfa Beach to take everyone for Sunday lunch. Free Wi-Fi, dog-friendly with outdoor seating and highchairs available & a full bar with beers & wines for the adults, it’s certainly worth the 20-minute walk! 

    Beer – Mulberry, Conwy Marina

    Ideal if you’re looking to refuel after a full day at the beach, The Mulberry also doubles as a quality bar. It offers award-winning wines and ales along with classic British favourites to complete your day at the seaside. 

    Sweet Treats – Parisella’s Ice Cream Parlour

    A trip to Parisella’s Ice Cream Parlour is certainly worth a hop in the car for the 6-minute drive to the popular dessert seller. Treat your sweet tooth with crepes and waffles, try experimental gelatos or stick to traditional ice-creams to cool down after your day at the beach.
