    If you’re a nature lover and want to combine a healthy walk with some birdwatching or animal spotting, then try the Sandybed Nature Trail. It’s a short walk but one that is full of birds and animals to look out for along the way, such as greenfinch, goldfinch, and dunnock, so make sure you bring your binoculars!

    The Cleveland Way National Trail is a fabulous 109-mile walking route that runs from Helmsley to Filey Brigg and offers wonderfully contrasting landscapes.

    The first half of the trail from Helmsley to Saltburn-by-the-Sea takes in classic moorland terrain, which, in late summer, as the heather bursts into flower, turns into an incredibly vivid purple.

    The walk offers stunning views over Cleveland Hills and the North York Moors National Park.

    It also includes historical sites of interest like the ruins of Helmsley Castle and the medieval Rievaulx Abbey, as well as landmarks like the Kilburn White Horse and Roseberry Topping, dubbed the ‘Yorkshire Matterhorn.’
